Welcome!

Until economic reforms in 1986, the Vietnamese government provided free schooling. Now, students must pay for "public" schooling in addition to other expenses such as school maintenance fees, textbooks, school uniforms. With an annual per capita income of less than $300 (US dollars) in rural areas, many families simply cannot afford to send their children to school. For these children--some abandoned and homeless--even basic nutrition and education remain only a dream.

With love and compassion, some Buddhist and Catholic nuns have independently opened free schools to provide basic education (pre-school through the 5th grade) to needy children, and have formed orphanages to care for orphans from 2 months to 18 years old. These institutions are small-scale and under-funded. Given this situation, this private non-profit foundation was established in 2000 to address this need.

MilkCare Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit private operating organization run by volunteers, who donate their support through time and monetary contributions. Your donations are tax-deductible.
